NO. 070 series

MONTGOMERY COLLECTION / SWEDEN

Traveling rearranges our minds; reshaping perspectives and reprioritizing different elements of our multi-faceted lives.

The 070 series was shaped around a trip to Sweden, after spending time in Gnesta and Stockholm.  This particular trip was an over sensory and transformative experience. In the moment, it was an elevated form of reality; absorbing elements from all senses at a rapid pace. What I walked away with was a euphoric connectivity to the essence around me.

This series introduces new colors and textures that are unique among the other series in the brand. 070 features pastels, patent, iridescent and metallic leather. The series has a variety of inspirations, including architecture within the city and the hues of nature during midsummer.

Gnesta / Sweden

The trip started in Gnesta to celebrate Midsummer. Three days on the countryside, enjoying the longest days of the year, where it was daylight for nearly 24 hours. It was an opportunity to meet 70+ new people and enjoy the best time of the year in Sweden.

The energy was that of a festival but with the freedom to structure the celebration as we desired. The people who organized this were open minded free spirits that showed us the best time. There is a lot that can be taken away from being thrown in with a group of strangers from different walks of life. It creates opportunities to experience life from a different lens, discover a variety of refreshing perspectives and gain exposure to different ways of connecting.

The most pivotal, memorable moments in my life have always happened in extremes, this trip included. The rapid pace, running on little to no sleep as to not miss a moment of it, was surreal. From a bounce house to a rave barn; the event was nothing short of magic.

The products reflect the midsummer energy and the hues of the sunriseS and sunsets. The layers of textures and finishes among the individual products that make up the series as a whole add a sense of depth that was present the entire celebration.

Stockholm / Sweden

The remainder of the trip was spent in Stockholm. The public transit throughout the city is an underground metro system, with stops at centrums that have their own unique design. Each feels like an art installation, giving each stop its own identity and experience. The design for the tunnel at MÖrby Centrum metro station is playful, with pastel rainbows and clouds.

The designs for the No. 070.2 and No.070.3 packs were motivated by this location, pulling the colors and strong architectural stripes into the form. Both packs are designed to be worn either direction, with horizontal stripes on one side and angled stripes on the reverse. The wrapped stripes keep the continuity between the two sides. While traditional in shape, the pack takes on a unique relaxed top closure, using the weight of the leather to keep it closed, rather than relying solely on the gathered cinch.

At the airport, when leaving for this trip, my boyfriend surprised me with tickets to  Berlin in conjunction with this trip. View the Berlin travel story here and the products that were inspired from it here.
